 <note>ABSTRACT&#13;
This study is entitled, “A study on mastering of simple present tense to the &#13;
first -grade students of Ensino secundaria geral herai in the school year 2024;” &#13;
The objectives of this study were to find out the ability of the first-grade students &#13;
of Ensino secundaria geral hera in the school year 2024 in using simple present &#13;
tense and to discover their levels of using simple present tense’. The population of &#13;
this study was the first-grade students of the refered school and the sample was 20 &#13;
selective students as the representative for this study. The methods used in this &#13;
study was quantitative methods. The instrument used in this study was written &#13;
test, which consisted of three types of the test; such as multiple choice tests, filling &#13;
in the blanks and true or false. The research results showed that the &#13;
students’increase was attained 63,48% from 381 students’ total correct answers &#13;
and 36,52% from 219 students’ total wrong answers and there was null from &#13;
students’ total no answer. The data shows the students’ correct answers were &#13;
higher than wrong answers. In the level of increased, in there were 5 of the firstgrade of the students categorized at high mark, from scores of ranges 21 to 23, &#13;
from 109 total scores with 18,16%. Then, there were 10students categorized at&#13;
average mark, from 189 total scores with 31,48% and there were 5 students in &#13;
low level, from the total scores of 83 with 13,84%. It can be said, the first-grade &#13;
students of Ensino secundaria geral hera in the school year 2024 were having &#13;
increase their knowledge of simple present tense, because in the students’ correct &#13;
answer were higher than the wrong answers; then, most of the students were &#13;
categorized at high level. So, the first-grade students of refered school got some&#13;
increase from low level to high level of using simple present tense treatment. This &#13;
means that, they have increased their ability in using simple present tense.&#13;
