A STUDY ON MASTERING OF SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE TO THE FIRST-GRADE STUDENTS OF ENSINO SECUNDARIA GERAL HERA IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2024
ABSTRACT
This study is entitled, “A study on mastering of simple present tense to the
first -grade students of Ensino secundaria geral herai in the school year 2024;”
The objectives of this study were to find out the ability of the first-grade students
of Ensino secundaria geral hera in the school year 2024 in using simple present
tense and to discover their levels of using simple present tense’. The population of
this study was the first-grade students of the refered school and the sample was 20
selective students as the representative for this study. The methods used in this
study was quantitative methods. The instrument used in this study was written
test, which consisted of three types of the test; such as multiple choice tests, filling
in the blanks and true or false. The research results showed that the
students’increase was attained 63,48% from 381 students’ total correct answers
and 36,52% from 219 students’ total wrong answers and there was null from
students’ total no answer. The data shows the students’ correct answers were
higher than wrong answers. In the level of increased, in there were 5 of the firstgrade of the students categorized at high mark, from scores of ranges 21 to 23,
from 109 total scores with 18,16%. Then, there were 10students categorized at
average mark, from 189 total scores with 31,48% and there were 5 students in
low level, from the total scores of 83 with 13,84%. It can be said, the first-grade
students of Ensino secundaria geral hera in the school year 2024 were having
increase their knowledge of simple present tense, because in the students’ correct
answer were higher than the wrong answers; then, most of the students were
categorized at high level. So, the first-grade students of refered school got some
increase from low level to high level of using simple present tense treatment. This
means that, they have increased their ability in using simple present tense.
