This thesis is entitle: “A study on mastering of definite article and indefinite article to &#13;
the second year students of Ensino Básico Central (EBC) do 3º Ciclo Fatumeta, &#13;
Dili, post administrative of Dom-Aleixo, municipality Dili in the academic year &#13;
2023/2024”.&#13;
The objective of this research is to know whether or not the second year students of &#13;
Ensino Básico Central (EBC) do 3º Ciclo Fatumeta, Dili are effectively to &#13;
communicate and use the English definite article and indefinite articles, and English &#13;
is as used by the school as a foreign language as stated in the school curriculum. The &#13;
writer used quantitative research method to describe the result and to categorize the &#13;
students’ grade of effectiveness of the work on definite article and indefinite article. &#13;
The sample is used in this study to the second year students of Ensino Básico Central &#13;
(EBC) do 3º Ciclo Fatumeta, Dili in the school year 2023/2024. With the total &#13;
numbers are 20 students. There were 20 item tests used in this study and all are in &#13;
written tests. They are (28%) (56 numbers) of multiple choices, (50%) (50 numbers) &#13;
of true or false (, 47%) (47 numbers) of filling in the blanks. Four (4) students were &#13;
categorized in high mark from scored 10 to 12 with the total percentages of 11% &#13;
from 44 scores. Then eleven (11) were categorized in average mark from ranged &#13;
score 7 to 9 with the percentage of (21, 5%) from 86 of students correct answers. &#13;
Finally, five (5) students in the second year students of Ensino Básico Central (EBC) &#13;
do 3ºCiclo Fatumeta, Dili categorized in the low mark ranged 2 to 6 with its &#13;
percentage of ( 5,75% ) from 5 of students correct answers.&#13;
