A STUDY ON MASTERING OF READING SKILL THROUGH LITERAL READING COMPREHESION TO THE FIRST YEAR STUDENTS OF ESCOLA SECUDARIA GERAL LERE ANAN TIMUR LOSPALOS IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2024



ABSTRACT
This study is entitled: “ The study on the mastering of reading skill through
literal reading comprehension to the first year students of Escola Secundaria
Geral Lere Anan Timur Lospalos in the school year 2024.”Researchers have
found that teaching reading strategy is a key element in developing students
„comprehension. However, many teachers lack of a solid foundation for
teaching these reading comprehension strategies. Therefore, teachers need to
be prepared on how to design effective comprehension strategies and how to
teach these strategies to their students. Therefore, this study aims to study
the effective reading strategies in order to improve reading skills in
languages classes. The study is an action research applied to a number 14
students in an intermediate level integrated skill course. The main question of
study is “would reading strategies help the students‟ reading comprehension
studies?” The results of the study indicate that students had an improvement
to a great extend have been tutored about the reading strategies. Based on
the result of the test, got in table I with percentages 99,5%, and in table II
with percentages 100%, in table III with percentages 100%, in table IV with
percentages 99,1%, in table V with percentages 28,75%, in table VI with
percentages 32,75%, in table VII with percentages 12,25%.

Key Answer: The study on mastering of reading skill through literal reading
comprehension, effective teaching, and strategies.
