Antensedente:Humanimunodifisiensia virus /syndrome imunodifisiensia
adkirida (HIV/SIDA), hanesan pandemia ne’ebe akontese iha mundu
tomak, inklui iha Timor-Leste. HIV mak hanesan virus ida ne’ebe ataka
sistema imunidade isin nian, se HIV la hetan tratamentu mak sei hamosu
SIDA (syndrome imunodifisiensia adkirida). Bazeia ba dadus World Health
organization (WHO 2023), ema iha mundu tomak ne’ebe afetadu ho moras
infeksaun HIV hamutuk 39.9 millaun. 38.6 millaun afeta husi adultus ho
idade 15 anos ba leten, inklui feto 20,5 millaun no mane 18,1 millaun, no
1.4 millaun afeta husi labarik sira ho idade menus husi 15 anos. Ema ne’ebe
mate tanba sofre HIV hamutuk 630.000. Bazeia ba dadus ne’ebé rejista iha

1 de Lautém, Posto Administrativo Lautém, Municipio Lautém, tinan 2025.
Metodolojia peskiza: Metodu ne’ebé peskizadora uza iha peskiza ida ne’e
mak hanesan metodu Kuantitativu ho Aproximasaun Deskritivu ho teknika
ne’ebé utiliza iha peskiza hodi hetan amostra ne’e mak Systematic Ramdong
Sampling. Total populasaun hamutuk 155 ho total amostra 61.
Rezultadu Peskiza:hatudu katak Estudante sira nia koñesimentu “hatene”
kategoria diak 14(23%), nato’on 37 (61%),menus 10 (16%), koñesimentu
“komprende” kategoria diak 13 (21%),nato’on 38 (62%),menus 10
(17),koñesimentu “aplika”kategoria diak 15 (25%), nato’on 27 (44%),
menus 19 (31%).
Konkluzaun: Bazeia ba rezultadu peskiza konklui katak Estudante sira nia
koñesimentu maioria tama iha kategoria Nato’on tamba menus informasaun
husi pesoal saúde koba-bá prevensaun moras HIV/SIDA

Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus / Acquired Immunodeficiey
Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a global pandemic that affects the entire world,
including Timor-Leste. HIV is a virus that attacks the body’s immune
system.IfHIV
is
not
treated,
it
canlead
to
AIDS
(AcquiredImmunodeficiency Syndrome). According to data from the World
Health Organization (WHO, 2023), an estimated 39.9 million people
worldwide are living with HIV infection. Of these, 38.6 million are adults
aged 15 years and older, including 20.5 million women and 18.1 million
men. In addition, 1.4 million children under the age of 15 are affected. The
number of people who died from HIV-related causes is estimated at
630,000. Based on data recorded at the Lautém Municipal Health Center, in
2024 a total of 17 people were diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. In 2025, from
January to June, the number increased to 21 people, with 4 individuals
reported to have died.
Research Objective:This study aims to identify the level of knowledge
among 11th-grade students regarding the prevention of HIV/AIDS at Escola
Secundária Geral No. 1 de Lautém, Lautém Administrative Post, Lautém
Municipality, in the year 2025.
Research Methodology:The method used by the researcher in this study is
a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The technique employed
to obtain the sample is Systematic Random Sampling. The total population
consists of 560 individuals, with a sample size of 85
Research findings: It shows that students' knowledge in the 'know' category
was good for 14 (23%), moderate for 37 (61%), and low for 10 (16%); in
the 'understand' category, good for 13 (21%), moderate for 38 (62%), and
low for 10 (17%); in the 'apply' category, good for 15 (25%), moderate for
27 (44%), and low for 19 (31%).
Conclusion: Based on the survey results, it was concluded that students'
knowledge mostly falls into the 'None' category due to lack of information
from health personnel regarding HIV/AIDS prevention.
